Recognizing our Manufacturers - October is Manufacturing Month

Although October 7th is Manufacturing Day, the month of October is Manufacturing Month, and we are recognizing those outstanding manufacturers covered in IBNewsmag in recent months.

Engis Manufacturing. This Chicago-area company, with offices both in the US and UK, manufactures super abrasive products and associated machinery for precision measuring equipment and industrial machinery. Its Hypres Diamond Compounds for extremely precise polishing of components were used to polish the James Webb telescope, among other aerospace and defense industries it serves.

Paulson Manufacturing. Based in Temecula, California, Paulson operates a large distribution center in Frankfurt, Germany to better serve its European customers with personal protective gear and to mitigate supply chain and pricing challenges. Its products include a complete line of custom-crafted arc fault face shields, goggles and other accessories to provide worker protection.

CLAAS of America. From its manufacturing and distribution facility in Omaha, Nebraska, CLAAS offers technically innovative combines, tractors, hay tools, balers and self-propelled forage harvester products that serve North American farmers. It overcame many of the supply chain challenges to follow grower harvests.

Insta-Pro International. Based in Grimes, Iowa, this company is a nutrition-based manufacturer that exports high-shear dry extruders, mechanical oil presses and other equipment to improve animal nutrition in some 100 countries. It is notable in that it does not use international distributers, but relies on company sales directors, sales managers and sales reps.

BioSafe Technologies. This Dennison, Texas company led by Lynn James-Meyer, developed an insect control line of natural products based on her observations of the devastation in Brazil caused by using toxic sprays. Sold internationally, BioSafe had to navigate the strict regulatory restrictions that vary by country.

Norland/ABE Beverage Equipment. Based in Lincoln, Nebraska, the company manufactures beverage equipment from bottled water to craft beverages that it markets around the world. Its focus on small to medium-sized craft brewer-canners with superior customer service has given it a competitive edge despite pricing and logistical challenges.

Sunnen Products Company of St. Louis, Missouri, designs, manufactures and services the world's largest catalog of industrial honing machines, bore sizing and finishing systems. Its integrated catalog offers manual and automated solutions for honing, gaging and part handling, and it can accommodate post-honing operations such as deburring, bushing and pin-insertion.

Prairie AquaTech. Located in Brookings, South Dakota, Prairie AquaTech developed a microbial process to convert soybean meal into a highly digestible protein feed ingredient that improves the health of fish and shrimp worldwide. The company, for example, sells its product to feed mills in Europe that formulate feed for Atlantic salmon, sea bass and sea bream.

Bye Aerospace. This Denver-based company, with electric motors and composite airframes, is selling its 2-seat eFlyer Trainer electric airplane for pilot training as well as efficient larger models around the world. Similar to the Cessna 172, but with fewer parts, the e-Flyer is much less complex and easier to maintain. It has now developed a 4-seat eFlyer 4 and an eFlyer 800 with 8 seats with orders coming in from around the world.

Serola Biomechanics. Situated in Loves Park, Illinois, this company manufactures world-class orthopedic products that effectively relieve and prevent pain using an ever-expanding, patent-protected, whole-body healthcare solution to improve muscle function. They offer a non-intrusive and wearable product to correct a person’s internal sacroiliac severe twisting of the scrum and illium, a movement called nutation, and are selling it in over 25 countries.

PT (Coupling). Although it may be a long way from Enid, Oklahoma, to some of its export markets in South Africa and New Zealand, PT manufactures a wide array of quick connect-disconnect coupling and replacement products for key segments of agriculture, chemical processing, sanitary applications, oil & gas, mining, steel processing, transportation, government and railroad industries.

BioMicrobics. With a theme of “Better Water. Better World,” this Lenexa, Kansas company, manufactures and sells wastewater, greywater and storm water systems as well as marine solutions to over 80 countries through its distributor network. Its award-winning, certified, pre-engineered package solutions adhere to global standards and regulations. Because its systems have few moving parts, they tend to last for long-term performance, thus essentially negating the demand for most spare parts.
